Pirelli has announced the number of tyre sets and compound choices made by each driver for the Chinese Grand Prix.

The total number of sets that can be used during practice, qualifying and racing remains 13.

For China, Pirelli has nominated the medium and soft of which one set must be used at some point in the race.

In addition, Pirelli has nominated the supersoft for Q3, of which one set must be retained for the final phase of qualifying. This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race - as is the case currently.

The remaining 10 sets can be chosen by each team, from the three compounds nominated for the race weekend, each driver free to make his own choice.

"To be honest, I would welcome a tyre war too, but can you imagine the mess the FIA will do what with "new rulings". The whole sport needs to look at itself, how its run, how the rules are made. Ive always said the engines currently in use were wrong for F1. From the day that decision was made it was the death knell of F1 as we knew it"

"I'd much rather see a tire war return with multiple tire manufactures producing tires specifically for each circuit.

I'm OK with rules limiting the number of tires for the weekend, but this farce of different compounds that MUST be used is silly. And engineered performance degradation is equally silly."
