Mallya lashes out at Red Bull

NEWS STORY
23/11/2014

Force India boss Vijay Mallya has publicly blasted Red Bull following its exclusion from qualifying for a technical irregularity.

Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo will start today's race from the pitlane after Stewards in Abu Dhabi deemed their front wings illegal, it having been found that they were flexing.

Though it accepted the decision, Red Bull was quick to react to the exclusion, saying: "We are disappointed that we have been singled out for a front wing deflection test when it is clear that other teams are interpreting the rules in a similar fashion."

However, an angry Mallya, whose team is one of three embroiled in a bitter row with Red Bull and the other big teams over the distribution of F1 prize money, took to Twitter.

"A big F1 team that says we small outfits should not come with bananas to a gun fight, grabs maximum money and cheats on the regulations," he wrote. "Arrogance and a superiority complex on the part of those who are paid to be in F1 should not dilute or colour those who pay to be in F1. Have holders of purse strings and decision makers in F1 become slaves to the whims of the big boys and the contracts ? What about F1 sport?"

"Petes, I do not know the full story about the issues relating to the "irregularities" my comment was posted as it seems VJM is very vocal about "costs" and the issue raised about the "irregularities" could possibly also be a way of highlighting his financial issues as well. Teams will always interperate the rules as long as they can get away with it, it's part of racing. However once more it seems it's only come to light when the ex Red Bull person left and went to a competitor team! Someone will have I am sure made the FIA technical guys aware of it and the reason could be two red bulls starting at the rear would or could have another team achieving points which if Red Bull had been where they should be may have proved difficult. Of course FORCE INDIA also suffered accordingly if such a card had been played. So all in all sour grapes and all very F1. As I said, all sports are the same if you want to win.

"Mallya is not a person in F1 that I particularly care for or would trust.

However, his underlying message here is extremely apt, so it's pi$$poor that the 2 comments posted here display such poor understanding of the realities facing F1 today."

"He must be worried about the potential ban on alcohol sponsorship! He has no other business left to pull money from! "

"While he has a haircut like that, Mallya isn't in much of a position to criticize anybody about anything."
