Red Bull not an option claims Raikkonen's manager

NEWS STORY
19/08/2013

Kimi Raikkonen's manager, Steve Robertson, has ruled out the possibility of the Finn heading to Red Bull to partner Sebastian Vettel next season.

As the F1 world awaits confirmation that Daniel Ricciardo has claimed the seat, with talk the move will be confirmed this weekend, Robertson said that talks with the Austrian team are at an end.

"The negotiations with Red Bull were not successful and ended some time ago," he told Finland's Turun Sanomat. "Kimi will not be driving for Red Bull in 2014."

On the other hand there are persistent whispers that the Finn might yet return to Ferrari, the team with which he won his title. To replace Massa.

"Maybe Dietrich sees his 'brew' as a drink in it's own right and not as a mixer :)"

"I am sorry that Kimi did not get the nod, but it is always refreshing to see a young driver get a chance with a top team, so best of luck to Ricciardo."

"I don't think Kimi would have enjoyed the endless promotion work at Red Bull to be honest and there would have been plenty of it given their raison d'etre.

A great opportunity for the likeable Daniel Ricciardo if, as it now seems, he is to get the Red Bull drive!"

"If ever there was an F1 team made for Kimi it was Red Bull. The image of the company seems to fit him much more than anyone else. Gutted he's not joining them."

"I would liked to have seen Kimi at Red Bull and with what I think would have been the most realistic chance at another title however I'm not surprised. If Lotus can sort out it's financial issues and concentrate on providing Kimi with the best car they can then he's more than capable of winning races/titles with them. Provided of course he doesn't head back to Ferrari, now that would really be a surprise. "
