FIA confirms DRS zone for Monaco

NEWS STORY
25/05/2011

The FIA has confirmed that at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, drivers will be able to activate their movable rear wings (DRS) from the very start of the main pit straight.

The DRS detection zone is shortly after Turn 16 - the exit to the Swimming Pool - on the approach to La Rascasse, with the activation zone beginning just as the cars exit Turn 19 (Anthony Noghes).

Drivers are only allowed to use the movable rear wing if they are within one second of the car ahead at the designated line going into the zone.

During the practice sessions and qualifying they are forbidden to use it in the tunnel.

The FIA reveals only a couple of minor changes ahead of this year's event, those being that all drain covers will be provided with a means of positively securing them for the Grand Prix - with a mind on Rubens Barrichello's accident last year - and new debris fences with overhanging sections will be installed on the left before Turn 3.
