Ecclestone applauds Todt's hands-off style

NEWS STORY
23/10/2010

As Jean Todt celebrates his first year as president of the FIA, Bernie Ecclestone, who is about to celebrate his eightieth year on planet earth, lauds the Frenchman for leaving F1 to get one with things in its own way.

For much of those first twelve months, Todt has been conspicuous by his (apparent) absence, particularly when one remembers Max Mosley's hands-on, full-on, approach.

"What's good about him is that he's left us alone, Formula One-wise," Ecclestone told Reuters. "He's got on with the other things that needed looking after. It's good for us and good for him I think."

Earlier this week it was reported that in addition to unease within the FIA as to constitutional changes Todt is considering making, former president Max Mosley is planning a coup.

However, while the murmuring over the constitutional changes continue, ahead of next month's General Assembly in Paris, high level sources close to Pitpass have dismissed talk of Mosley leading a coup as utter nonsense.
