Senna targeting Campos and Manor

NEWS STORY

Bruno Senna, nephew of the legendary three-time champion Ayrton Senna, is confident that he will be in F2 next season, with Campos and Manor currently his best options.

The 26-year-old had hoped to make his F1 debut with Brawn this season and throughout the winter, while Ross Brawn and Nick Fry worked to find a buyer following the shock withdrawal of Honda, the Brazilian was constantly linked with the Brackley outfit. Indeed, at one stage it was reported that a Brazilian consortium was considering buying the team in order to bring the Senna name back to F1. However, it was not to be, as Brawn settle for the vast experience of Rubens Barrichello.

As a result, not wishing to return to GP2, the youngster spent some time contesting the Le Mans Series including the Le Mans 24-Hours in which he shared an Oreca with Stephane Ortelli and Tiago Monteiro.

Speaking in Sao Paulo yesterday, where he was attending the free practice sessions for Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix, Senna said he was fully confident of lining up on the F1 grid next March.

It's not done yet," he told reporters, "but we are in good condition with Campos in the negotiations but it's not done. It's only done when it's signed.

"I hope that we can continue going forward with the negotiations," he continued, "but we are not closed to the other teams either. We are still talking to other teams in case things go bad with any of the teams we are negotiating with.

It's only 100 percent when you are in the car for the first race but I am pretty confident because I have more than one proposition on the table," he revealed. "We are talking to about four or five teams but the best options are in two teams really. Manor and Campos are the strongest possibilities. Anything else is a bit less developed and I guess we will probably be in one of those cars.

"We hope that we can announce things soon," he added. "We are going forward with negotiations and if we can get everything sorted in two weeks it would be a great result."
