Eight teams to attend diffuser hearing

NEWS STORY
08/04/2009

While only three teams have protested the diffusers being used by Williams, Toyota and Brawn, eight will attend next week's International Court of Appeal.

The hearing follows protests made in Melbourne by Ferrari, Renault and Red Bull regarding the legality of the diffusers on the Williams, Toyota and Brawn. The protests were thrown out by Race Stewards who declared the cars fully legal. However, as expected, the three teams appealed the ruling, hence next week's hearing.

BMW also lodged a protest in Melbourne but were too late, subsequently the German team issued another protest in Malaysia, which, like that of the other protesting teams, was thrown out.

Announcing details of the hearing today, the FIA confirmed that Red Bull, Renault and Ferrari have, through their respective ASNs, OSK/ÖAMTC, FFSA and CSAI respectively, appealed the Stewards' decisions, while also revealing that McLaren, Brawn GP, Williams, BMW and Toyota have, through their respective ASNs, asked to be heard by the Court. Only Force India and Toro Rosso are not attending.

The decision of the appeal court is expected next Wednesday.
