After bringing in Francesco "Frankie" Provenzano in the last round of the GP2 Asia Series in Bahrain, Trident Racing has announced an agreement enabling Davide Rigon to jump behind the wheel of the team's second car.

The 22-year-old driver will finally make his GP2 debut at Losail, Qatar, for the 4th round of the '08-'09 Asia Series. Both Davide and Trident Racing will try to get in touch fast in order to extend the relationship to a longer term.

Rigon, who cruised to the 2008 Superleague Formula title for Berlin Guoan, will partner fellow countryman Provenzano. Trident Racing admits it is delighted to field two highly-talented National drivers in order to prove the top-notch quality of Italy's best talents.

Davide Rigon: "I'm really honoured for this new opportunity. First, this deal will finally bring me back on an open-wheel car after more than two months. Second, the agreement signed with Trident Racing will enable me to get in touch with the team's staff, that I hope to partner also during the 2009 GP2 Main Series. I'll find a totally unknown track at Qatar, but the difficulties will be balanced by the fascinating night atmosphere, which will be also new to everybody. I tested a Renault-powered GP2 Dallara back in November 2007, and I remember it like a really light and reactive car, which I really enjoyed to drive. I'll have to build the feeling back, but since I'm feeling really fit and focused, I think it will be a natural process. I don't know what to expect in terms of results, thou the primary goal for this race will be create a strong relationship with the team, and avoid making mistakes. I really respect a lot the GP2 field, featuring several true top-class drivers".

Frankie Provenzano: "I had the chance to see the Qatar track in a camera-car from a motorbike, but I don't think it'll be indicative of what we will actually find there. Reading the track map, I expect a faster circuit than the one in Bahrain, but since it will be new for almost everyone, we'll be all starting from zero. I'm curious to see what it feels like to race under artificial light, the main feature of this event. My goal is to confirm the good approach shown in Bahrain with the car and team, and to make a further step from a performance standpoint".
