Ecclestone: It's business as usual

Speaking to Reuters by phone shortly after today's Extraordinary General Meeting, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said the vote had changed nothing.

"It's business as usual as far as I'm concerned," said the Englishman, quickly adding what can only be seen as a thinly veiled warning of possible repercussions: "I hope it hasn't destabilised sponsors or manufacturers."

Having earlier warned the FIA members - courtesy of The Times - that if given the vote of confidence Mosley would probably seek another term in office, Ecclestone added: "I've always said publicly that I thought he should stand down at the end of the year. We are now in a position where nobody quite knows (what will happen). All those who said things in the past, I don't imagine they are going to change their opinion now.

"It's going to be difficult for him to act as a president of the FIA if the people who said before that they don't want to meet with him maintain that position," he continued.

At which point, no doubt, Ecclestone's fingers had to be prised away from the telephone.
