Hamilton hoping for less politics in 2008

NEWS STORY
28/12/2007

2007 World Championship runner-up, Lewis Hamilton, is already looking forward to the resumption of testing in anticipation of his second season of F1.

After a dramatic debut season however, which saw him leading the championship for much of the year, the youngster is hoping that 2008 will be a little less fraught, particularly with regards the political machinations which saw his team eliminated from the Constructors' Championship.

"Politics-wise it was a disaster," he told the Daily Telegraph, "but that is the business, there is nothing you can do about it. You won't see a season quite like it again but I hope next season is just as exciting without the politics."

Looking ahead to the new season, when he will be joined by fellow 2007 rookie Heikki Kovalainen, the Englishman is confident that he can continue where he left off, and fight for the 2008 title.

"For me it's great, I'm almost seen as the leader of the team and hopefully I can do the job."
