Jarvis looking forward to Sepang debut

Oliver Jarvis is set to get back behind the wheel for A1 Team GBR this weekend and will be looking to follow up on his fantastic season opener at Zandvoort where he took victory in the Feature Race. The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport heads to the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia for round three of the series on November 23-25.

Following a good performance in the Czech Republic from Robbie Kerr, the team, currently third in the standings, will be striving to close the gap to championship leaders New Zealand. Last year Kerr claimed second in the Feature Race and Oliver will be keen to go one step further up the podium this time around.

Oliver will arrive for driving duties in Sepang following a busy few weeks since his last A1GP outing in the Netherlands, including securing third place overall in the All Japan Formula 3 Championship before jetting off to Circuit Paul Ricard, France, where he enjoyed a strong test in a GP2 car operated by David Price Racing. On 6 November he enjoyed his first taste of Formula One, testing a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-21 at Silverstone as part of his prize for winning the 2005 McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. Last weekend the rising British star took a dominant victory in the prestigious Polytec Macau Formula Three Grand Prix, having started on pole position to take control of the race and lead every single lap.

Sepang is one of the widest of all the circuits A1GP visits this year and is characterised by two extremely long straights, offering opportunities for cars to dice up to three abreast going into the tight hairpin throwing up plenty of excitement.

With Jarvis still eligible for Friday mornings' rookie practice session having competed in only six A1GP races to date, A1 Team GBR's new rookie driver Oliver Turvey will not be in the car next weekend but will offer his views on the weekend's action from the Sky Sports studio. Meanwhile experienced GBR racer Robbie Kerr will be present in Sepang in an advisory capacity to support Jarvis.

Oliver Jarvis: I cannot wait to get out to Malaysia - it seems like ages since I last drove the A1GP car. It will be my first time racing in Sepang and from what I understand it's a demanding circuit both mentally and physically. I think the humidity will also be a big factor so it will be a fairly challenging weekend. But following on from my Feature Race win in Zandvoort and Robbie's second place in the Brno Sprint race I think the team has a very good chance of two strong finishes. The aim is to at least get podium finishes and hopefully stand on the top step and continue GBR's strong form from the last ten races.

Katie Clements, Team Principal: We have all been encouraged by our excellent start to the season. Oliver and Robbie have each put in strong performances to keep A1 Team GBR in sight of the series leaders. With a win already under his belt this season, Oliver is keen to pick up where he left off at Zandvoort and we are confident we can continue with our strong form on a circuit where we went well last year.
