Just two days before his 23rd birthday, Christian Bakkerud is pleased to confirm that he has signed a deal to race for the top British GP2 squad, Super Nova International Racing, in the GP2 Asia series starting in January 2008.

Super Nova headed up by renowned GP2 boss David Sears has a long and successful history. The team was established in 1991 and made the move into Formula 3000 (predecessor to the GP2 series) in 1994. The David Sears led team has since provided race winning cars to a number of successful drivers such as Juan Pablo Montoya, Sebastien Bourdais and Mark Webber. Sears has also run several top Danish Racing drivers such as Jan Magnussen, Jason Watt most recently Nicolas Kiesa.

A delighted Christian comments from Paul Ricard having just finished a two day test with his new team - "I'm really pleased to have secured a deal with Super Nova for the GP2 Asia series. The team have a great pedigree in GP2 and before that in F3000 and we know they have the experience and resources to compete for podiums and wins. This is a great opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to continue to work with them."

"My goal is clearly going to aim for podium finishes and race wins. I have learnt a lot in my first and very troublesome season in the GP2 series but I am ready to move on and prove myself in a different team environment. Things are finally falling into place and I can assure you that I will grab this opportunity with both hands!"

Christian's new Team Principal and owner David Sears – "I think that Christian has slotted into Super Nova very well and he has demonstrated that he is a genuine team player. We want to give him a real opportunity through testing and the GP2 Asia series drive to demonstrate his true potential in the main GP2 series for 2008."

"Obviously having endured a character building season in 2007, our main focus initially is about restoring Christian's confidence in himself which we feel is already improving during the first couple of days of testing. We enjoy working with Christian and we want him to finish winter testing with a smile on his face and with some much better results than before."

Christian resumes testing with his new team in Dubai on 18th and 19th January 2008.
