Istanbul - Race 2 Quotes

NEWS STORY
26/08/2007

Timo Glock (iSport International) 1st - This win is only for the mechanics, because they are perfect. In the end it is great to fight back, and when you look back and see how many races we had without points, six races is quite frustrating because I think we showed today we are the guys to beat

Xandi Negrai (Minardi Piquet Sports) 2nd - It's fantastic. It's just amazing. Glock in the beginning had incredible pace and he passed me – I couldn't hold him and I didn't want to hold him too much to not lose pace, so we opened the gap and then Nakajima had an accident so I catch the second position.

Adam Carroll (FMS International) 3rd - It's been a very good weekend. We've got another two podiums again, which is really good and I'm very happy with two third places. We've worked hard on the car this weekend. I struggled a bit at the start of the race today, but then the tyres held on in there and I was able to push towards the end and get Di Grassi and Garcia and push on up to third. I was trying hard for second but I ran out of laps. I've scored a podium every time I've been to Turkey, so it's been a good track for me. Everything is coming together well and I'm up there in the championship now - I'm only three points off of third place. We go to Italy next and I really like Monza so it would be great to get another win.

Bruno Senna (Arden International) 6th - Today's race was very satisfactory and I'm very happy to get the point again. We are working hard and now we are getting back to being competitive. The start of the weekend was not so good, but we had a lot of meetings and worked hard to find solutions to some of the problems we have been having. We've made some good improvements so it has been a good weekend's work overall and it looks like the work we did in the break and over the weekend has started to show some results. My pace over the weekend was good and I was able to lap the same times as the leaders, so we have to keep this momentum going now for the next race in Monza.

Javier Villa (Racing Engineering) DNF - It wasn't easy today. We were not as strong as yesterday and I was driving much more on the limit, I didn't have the same rhythm as yesterday. Towards the end of the race I was pushing and made a little mistake, which resulted in me going off the track. The only positive thing from this weekend is that we have a really good race rhythm. I hope that in Monza we will be in front again.

Andy Soucek (DPR) DNF - “The weekend didn't come together for me. In qualifying we didn't find the best set up, and I also didn't get the most from the car. I didn't feel comfortable or confident, so we didn't end up with a good grid position. As it turned out that didn't matter, as I ended up being taken out anyway. At the start today I clipped the stalled car of Zuber on the grid and then at the end of the straight I had to avoid a spinning car, so ended up braking late and flat spotting a tyre. From then on the car's handling was really difficult to manage and I was just fighting it the whole time. My race finished when I pushed a little too hard towards the end of the race and with oversteer on the exit of the corner, ended up spinning out. It's difficult to setup the car for the Sprint race when you haven't had a Feature race distance to understand the track more, but it's still disappointing not to reach the finish today.

Jason Tahinci (FMS International) DNF - I made a good start as usual and unfortunately that was as good as it got. I had a reasonably good pace at the beginning of the race and then struggled with the rear end which cost me some time. After that I was hit by Buemi, he put me in a spin which caused me to hit Zaugg and that's when I think I suffered the puncture. The car just wasn't driveable after that so I had to pull over. I'm really disappointed I couldn't finish here at my home race, especially after yesterday when I could have finished in the points. The luck just doesn't seem to go my way, so now we have to look forward to Monza.

Marcos Martinez (Racing Engineering) DNF - I wasn't able to finish today's race due to spinning off the track. It wasn't a good race as my objective was to finish it, something I didn't achieve. Now I am looking forward to Monza and hope that things will go better there.
