Watch the Williams FW29 being built

NEWS STORY
31/01/2007

Ahead of the launch of its 2007 contender on Friday, and the ubiquitous pictures of the drivers pulling back the wraps, AT&T Williams has come up with a nifty bit of Flash which allows race fans to see the car taking shape before their eyes.

In the days prior to the launch, the countdown page will feature an interactive car build simulation designed from genuine CAD files drawn by the AT&T Williams design team and will be accompanied by an in-depth engineering narrative showing how a modern F1 car is created.

The graphically rendered piece will deploy three new car parts every day of the week and will culminate in a fully constructed race car on launch day.

Race fans can interact with the simulation and back to the early stages of the build, when the FW29 was nothing more than a seat.

Rumours that a third party is currently cutting and pasting the code in order to sell the intellectual property rights to Prodrive for 2008 are unfounded.
