New move in homologation discussions

NEWS STORY
11/08/2006

It's understood that following Monday's meeting between Max Mosley and Professor Dr Burkhard Goeschel and Dr Juergen Reul, both representing the GPMA, FIA Technical Delegate, Charlie Whiting (right), has written to all of the F1 teams informing them of the homologation procedure that is to be put in place for 2007. Teams will have to hand over the engines to be homologated after either the Japanese or Brazilian Grand Prix, depending on whether the engine is being used for the first or second time. Prior to the talks, the engines that Mosley was planning to homologate were submitted in June.

It's understood that the deadline for submission is October 8, and the engine handed over must have completed two races.

However, and in this long-drawn-out saga there is always an however, despite the statement put out by the FIA on Monday afternoon, and a tele-conference on Wednesday afternoon, the GPMA has not official reacted, and therefore it is not known how close we are to seeing agreement reached.
