Schumacher supports 2006 regulations

Writing on his personal website, 7-time World Champion, Michael Schumacher, has given his 'seal of approval' to the regulation changes for 2006.

"Allowing tyres to be changed again and bringing in V8 engines are big plusses in regard to safety," writes the German. "We'll have to wait and see what to make of the new qualifying system."

Earlier in the week, reports in the Italian media suggested that Schumacher was against the new 'knock-out' qualifying format, however Schumacher insists that his comments were taken out of context.

There is unease within the pitlane as a result of certain regulation changes, with some claiming that the decision to revert to tyre changes during the race - having been banned in 2005 - is a move which favours Ferrari, which particularly suffered under the 2005 regulations.

Schumacher also took time to congratulate Max Mosley, following his re-election as FIA President: "Max always takes the time to listen to us, the drivers, and has been especially supportive during the last couple of months as we tried to make Formula One safer," wrote the Ferrari star.
