Alonso 'wins' World Championship

NEWS STORY
17/08/2005

With Felipe Massa having revealed that he has already won the Turkish Grand Prix, it may not come as a great surprise to learn that Fernando Alonso has apparently already won the 2005 World Championship.

Earlier this week, Sauber star Massa, who is heading to Ferrari at the end of the season, revealed that he has 'driven' the Istanbul Park circuit on a computer game, and won a race there, featuring all his 2005 rivals.

Motorsport fans will be aware that Autocourse, the (highly collectable) end of season annual, always features a picture of the World Champion on its cover.

Therefore, with six races still remaining, Kimi Raikkonen will be disappointed to learn that advance publicity shots of the 2005/2006 edition - the 55th year of publication - feature Fernando Alonso in the Renault R25 on the cover.

Game (already) over?
