Friesacher to lose Minardi drive?

NEWS STORY
15/07/2005

According to reports, Patrick Friesacher is on the verge of losing his drive with Minardi, as a result of a lack of funding.

Talking to Reuters, team boss Paul Stoddart said: "Patrick being replaced at the next race is a strong possibility because of sponsorship money not being paid."

Despite the obvious limitations of the equipment at his disposal, Friesacher has put in some solid performances this season, not allowing teammate Christijan Albers to overwhelm him.

It's unclear who would replace the Austrian, but whoever it is would need a decent bankroll. Earlier this year, Friesacher got the drive when former Minardi driver Nicolas Kiesa was unable to come up with the required funding. Jordan reserve driver Robert Doornbos, and former Minardi driver, Zsolt Baumgartner, have also been linked with the Faenza 'vacancy'.
