Michael remains defiant

NEWS STORY
11/05/2005

Despite his retirement from the Spanish Grand Prix, and the fact that he currently trails, world championship leader, Fernando Alonso by 34 points, Ferrari's Michael Schumacher remains defiant and insists that the 2005 title fight is not lost.

"Those who consider us to be out of the running do not know us", he said. "Of course it wasn't the greatest result in the race for the title; that is clear enough. Despite this however, the season's opening races have proved just how much can change during a single weekend and how quickly they can change.

"So, I'll say it once more: the season is a long one and lots could still happen. Obviously the title challenge has got harder but all is not yet lost. We will go on working and battling. It is far from over."

If it were anyone else, you'd allow yourself a wry smile and say; "yeh right!", but this is Michael Schumacher and Ferrari that we're talking about.
