NEWS STORY
11/01/2005

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team completed its first day of testing in 2005 today at Jerez in Spain. Franck Montagny was the team's sole representative, at the wheel of the R24.

Continuing from work before Christmas, the team concentrated on tyre development for 2005, conducting performance evaluations on new compounds and constructions on behalf of Michelin, while also pursuing the development of electronic hardware and software for 2005. Franck also completed a set-up programme in the morning.

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer, commented: "Franck made a very useful start to 2005 today, running a full programme without any problems at all. We have continued our work on the 2005 specification electronics, and the tyre developments we tested looked promising. Franck was happy with the car's handling, and the lap-times seemed competitive. It was a good way to start the year."
