McLaren Electronic Systems (MESL), part of the McLaren Group, has been presented with the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise, for its achievement in international trade. The award was presented at the McLaren Technology Centre by Andrew Wates OBE, the Vice Lord-Lieutenant for Surrey.

The award recognises the company's success in the global motorsport, aerospace, transport and automotive markets. The company supplies the control and data systems to all competitors in the F1, NASCAR and IndyCar series. One in ten people around the world watch races in which all cars are powered by McLaren. The company also develops and sells electronics for piston-engine aircraft, video and data systems for commuter trains and hybrid systems and power-train controllers for sports cars.

The McLaren Group is a world leader in the development of a range of technologies, including the most desirable performance road cars, complex electronic systems, real-time data systems and modelling and simulation techniques. The group continues to grow in many diverse and global markets.

This is the company's second Queen's Award, having won an award for innovation in 2009 in recognition of its development of leading-edge control and data systems. MESL sells its electronics, software and components to a worldwide market with export sales up by more than 60% since 2008 with offices in Woking, UK and Huntersville, North Carolina, USA.

"We are delighted to have received this Queen's Award for International Trade," said Dr Peter van Manen, Managing Director of McLaren Electronic Systems. "Our domestic market for high performance electronics and software remains strong and the business outside Britain continues to grow. McLaren is a great British company and this award is an endorsement of our drive to do even more."
