Sauber in no hurry to confirm line-up

Sergio Perez will look to secure his future in the coming weeks, though maintains he has not had discussions with Ferrari.

The Mexican has been linked with a move to the Italian team, where he is a member of its Driver Academy, since finishing second to Fernando Alonso at the Malaysian Grand Prix. However he's not alone, Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, Felipe Massa and even Zorro having been at one point or another touted as joining the team.

"It will be the moment soon for me to think about my future," Perez said in Germany.

"I think I have done a very good job this season. I've proved that I have the speed, the consistency as well," he continued. "I am comfortable in the position I am and I'm sure I can perform in a very good way."

However that does not necessarily mean a move to Maranello, though he failed to deny the possibility when given the chance. "I have to see what the options are and from that I will decide," he explained. "If there is an opportunity with them or with another team then is the time to know."

It is expected that the team will continue with Kamui Kobayashi, despite the Japanese driver's up and down season. "If you look at the first few races I think he did quite well, but he's had a lot of bad luck - last race of course certain mistakes were made," admitted team CEO Monisha Kaltenborn.

"He knows he has a competitive car but really it's too early to make a final judgement on how the seasons' going to be but he has been having not that bad a season actually. Sometimes the luck is just missing."

Sauber is in no rush to confirm its driver line up, with a number of drivers linked to the increasingly competitive midfield squad. Heikki Kovalainen is just one name to have been mentioned, though Kaltenborn refused to be drawn on any speculation.

"I think if you have a competitive car like ours a lot of names want to be associated with it," she laughed. "We are not in any hurry."
