Auction: 1:8 scale Jordan 198

NEWS STORY
08/12/2011

Amalgam is auctioning a rare 1:8 scale model of the Jordan 198, as driven by Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher during the 1998 season.

This sensational model, in full tobacco livery, is being auctioned to raise much needed funding for the Help for Heroes Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court in Surrey.

The 198 up for auction is not from a particualr race, however, it is the same type of car in which Damon Hill scored his memorable win at Spa Francorchamps, leading home teammate Ralf Schumacher. In a lean season for the Silverstone based outfit, the Belgian 1-2 was enough to secure fourth in the Constructors' Championship.

The model, which measures 58 cm (approx 23 inches) in length, 22 cm (approx 8.7 inches) in width and stands 13 cm (approx 5.1 inches) high, comes in its own display case (66.2 x 33 x 23.3) which is contained within a race-style flight case. Delivery is free and will be shipped anywhere in the world.

All bids should be sent to Amalgam, who, will announce the winning bid on Thursday 22 December.

The highest bid wins this superb model.

All proceeds will be handed directly by Amalgam to the Help for Heroes Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court.

Update: Following emails from a couple of sharp-eyed readers, Amalgam has now confirmed that the car is a 198 but with a 199 livery and also 1999 spec tyres.

A spokesman for Amalgam says: "We made a number of specials for Eddie Jordan to present to potential sponsors at this time. Therefore, this model is a 198 but re-tyred and liveried for a prospective sponsor as a 199."
