Domenicali gets di Montezemolo's full support

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has thrown his weight behind team boss Stefano Domenicali saying he has his full support.

As Red Bull and McLaren continue to dominate, and with some at the Scuderia having already paid the price, some ponder whether the amiable Domenicali might be next to fall on his price.

However, speaking to reporters in Monza today, shortly after his team's drivers had qualified fourth and sixth, di Montezemolo said he continues to have faith in his countryman.

"Stefano has all my commitment," he said. "He has a big commitment to deliver and so he will be very busy."

Of course, Domenicali has a hard act to follow, under the team's previous boss, Jean Todt, the Italian outfit virtually dominated the sport, winning successive constructors' titles and drivers' titles with Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen. Last season, despite an amazing fight back, the Italian team lost out on the drivers' title with Alonso at the very last race, leading to calls for di Montezemolo himself to step down.

"When Todt left the company it was of course the end of an era," the Italian admitted. "We have opened a new era, new people and a new mentality. We discovered there was the necessity to improve some areas.

"I'm very happy that my team management is so confident and I look forward that he will deliver," he added. "I am pleased to have what I think is the best driver in the world, that is Fernando and I'm pleased to see a good reaction from Felipe in the second half of the season. So for next year I hope to make a condition to win again the championship."
