Rubens Barrichello has dismissed reports in the Italian media that he is to quit F1 at the end of the season.

With the Brazilian veteran likely to have contested 320 Grand Prix by season end - he is already the most experienced driver in the history of the sport - it is hardly surprising that rumours of his impending retirement arise from time to time, especially when he is experiencing such a difficult and largely fruitless season.

However, following a report in Corriere dello Sport in which he is quoted as saying that he doesn't know if he will continue racing in 2012, the Brazilian took to Twitter to put the record straight.

"I saw some news saying that I wanted to stop racing," he tweeted over the weekend, "makes me laugh really. All I want is to carry on racing...

"Working double hard to have a good car for next year," he continued. "Problems do exist and we r here to solve them. Williams need me as much as I need them.

Finally, he added: "To be honest I told Williams that if they offered me a 2 years contract that I would sign right now..."

Thus far, the popular Brazilian has scored all of Williams points this season, courtesy of ninth place finishes in Monaco and Canada.
