FIA confirms DRS zone for the Nurburgring

NEWS STORY
21/07/2011

The FIA has confirmed that at this weekend's German event, as in Britain, there will just one DRS zone following races in Canada and Valencia where there were two.

The DRS detection zone is shortly before Turn 10, the Kuhmo Kurve, with activation just after Turn 11, the Bit Kurve.

"The DRS zone has been set for the straight before the tight chicane, so we should see some good overtaking," said the FIA's Charlie Whiting. "There's always good action at the first corner: it's nice and wide, with a variety of lines, which gives drivers an opportunity to pass."

Since the last race here in 2009, the kerbs at the exit of Turn 4 have been changed to prevent drivers running wide, while the start line has been moved 240 metres further down the main straight. However, the position of the finish line is unchanged.
