Raikkonen seeking F1 return with Renault?

NEWS STORY
14/09/2010

According to internet reports Kimi Raikkonen has held initial talks with Renault with a view to returning to F1 next season.

Although it appeared that the 2007 world champion would continue in the World Rally Championship, the Finn having made numerous disparaging comments about F1, particularly with regards the politics and the PR side of the business, it would appear that the former Sauber, McLaren and Ferrari driver still has an eye on returning to the sport.

Renault team boss Eric Boullier has admitted that the Finn has approached the French team however, he's giving little else away.

Should Raikkonen move to Renault it is unclear how Robert Kubica would view the move and despite a shaky start to his F1 career the French outfit still holds out hope for Vitaly Petrov especially in view of the potential business market he opens up.

Boullier claims that it is better to have one experienced driver and one newcomer as opposed to two experience drivers, admitting that at present the French team is hoping that Petrov comes good.
