de la Rosa will need money for Campos drive

Adrian Campos, boss of one of four new teams due to join the F1 grid in 2010, has said that Spanish veteran Pedro de la Rosa will need to bring substantial backing if he is to secure a drive with his team.

de la Rosa, who made his F1 debut with Arrows back in 1999, subsequently raced for Prost and Jaguar before joining McLaren in 2003 as test driver, a role he has retained ever since, even being called up for race duty by the Woking team on a number of occasions.

With Spain on the verge of entering its first home grown team, de la Rosa has been linked with the Murcia based outfit for some time, though earlier this year he was also linked to Force India.

Speaking at a press conference today however, team boss Adrian Campos admitted that if the 38-year-old is going to secure a seat he will need substantial financial backing.

"I would like Pedro but he is Spanish and Spanish sponsors are in a bad way," Campos told Marca.

"There are other options from Russia and Venezuela but it all depends on the sponsor," he added, referring to GP2 regulars Pastor Maldonado and Vitaly Petrov.

The team has already announced the signing of Bruno Senna, nephew of F1 legend Ayrton Senna, who Campos signed not only because he believes in him as a driver but because of the Brazilian's obvious marketing potential.
