CVC board member blasts Ecclestone

CVC board member Sir Martin Sorrell has launched a blistering attack on Bernie Ecclestone following comments made in the wake of this week's WMSC hearing.

Although Ecclestone was part of the World Motor Sport Council which hit Renault boss Flavio Briatore with a lifetime ban from FIA-sanctioned motorsport for his role in the 'Crashgate' scandal, the Englishman subsequently described the punishment as harsh, advising the Italian to appeal.

Then, Ecclestone, in what many see as flagrant flouting of the protocol expected ahead of the forthcoming election for the presidency of the FIA, threw his weight behind Jean Todt, claiming the Frenchman is the ideal man for the job just months after claiming that Adolf Hitler was also good at getting things done.

Sorrell, one of many to lambaste Ecclestone's Hitler comments at the time, is clearly incensed at the Englishman's latest gaffe, suggesting the 78-year-old has essentially lost the plot.

"First, we had Hitler did good," Sorrell told the Daily Mail, "now we have cheating is acceptable. Where will it end?

"His latest comments are yet another example, I'm afraid, of Bernie being totally out of touch with reality," he added.
