Mosley settles suit with German publisher

NEWS STORY

Outgoing FIA President Max Mosley has settled his lawsuit with the German publisher which claimed his sex orgy with a number of prostitutes last year had a Nazi theme.

While Mosley never disputed the orgy, he disputed that there was a Nazi theme to it, the element that caused the most outrage amongst the media and general public.

Having successfully sued the originators of the story, the News of the World, Mosley subsequently announced his intention to pursue a number of European publishers who had run with it.

On Friday, Axel Springer AG, publishers of Germany's largest newspaper Bild, which ran the story last year, agreed to pay $290,000 (£173,000) to two charities and publish an interview with the FIA President.

Originally, Mosley had sought $1.4m (£836,000) from Bild and a number of other Springer publications and $700,000 (£418,000) from its website.

The Englishman is understood to be currently pursuing actions against a number of French and Italian publications, while a top security company is said to be investigating who tipped off the News of the World in the first place.
