NEWS STORY
27/02/2009

Fat Burner Racing Engineering has confirmed Lucas Di Grassi as its second driver for the 2009 GP2 Championship.

Lucas and Racing Engineering both had a very successful 2008 season and the aim is to continue building on this form and fight for the driver and team championship titles.

Brazilian born Lucas Di Grassi joins Fat Burner Racing Engineering for his fourth season in GP2. He has shown his great talent and experience in the F1 feeder series and as test and reserve driver of the Renault F1 Team.

Fat Burner Racing Engineering's Lucas Di Grassi finished the 2008 season in third place, behind Racing Engineering's Champion, Giorgio Pantano, and Bruno Senna. He was voted 'best driver of the 2008 GP2 Championship'.

Lucas di Grassi: "I am very happy to have joined Fat Burner Racing Engineering for the 2009 season. Contrary to last year, I will be able to participate in the GP2 Championship from the very beginning. In 2008 I fought for the title, and I believe that after a good season, and testing with Renault F1 Team and Honda Racing, I am more ready than ever to fight for the title. I feel very motivated and I will push to the limit to bring it home. Together with Dani Clos with whom I am very good friends and I have known since we both were in the RDD Program, I believe that we can work together to get the team to the top".

Alfonso de Orleáns Borbón, team principal: "I think with Lucas Di Grassi and Dani Clos we have a great driver line-up for 2009. Not only are Dani and Lucas good friends but I am sure their working relationship will also be very fruitful. With Lucas experience in GP2 and Formula 1, and also bearing in mind Dani's recent tests in F1, it is logical to think that with such a line-up all our goals will be directed towards winning the drivers and teams' titles this season".
