Toyota unveils the TF109

NEWS STORY
15/01/2009

Speaking at the launch, Chairman and Team Principal Tadashi Yamashina, was quite clear what the Japanese outfit's aim is this year; "Our target this year is to fight to win the first race for Toyota in Formula 1," he said. "At every Grand Prix weekend we try to win but unfortunately we have not been able to do so until now. For Toyota our objectives are clear at each race; we want to win and if that is not possible we want to finish on the podium. Toyota has a challenging spirit with very high ambitions so we must always aim high."

Referring to the team's parent company, which recently reported a trading loss for the first time in its history, prompting fears that it might follow Honda out of F1, he added: "The top management at the Toyota Motor Corporation has encouraged us never to give up, so always we will fight to win."
