Following today's announcement that Ferrari will provide the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport with chassis design and engine technology for a six year period starting in 2008, A1 Team Great Britain is delighted to confirm its unreserved backing for this breakthrough deal with the most famous automotive brand in the world.

The agreement, announced by A1GP Chairman Tony Teixeira this morning, will see A1 Team Great Britain utilize a Ferrari-designed chassis powered by Ferrari engines commencing with the 2008/09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. The British team won the Feature Race in the opening round of this year's series in Zandvoort, The Netherlands, on September 30th and has finished 3rd in both The World Cup of Motorsport in the two seasons held to date. The news that it will use technology provided by Ferrari has underlined A1 Team GBR's strong faith in the series, and adds an exciting new dimension to its preparations for the next stage in the development of The World Cup of Motorsport.

In addition to using Ferrari technology, A1 Team GBR will join over 20 other nations in being able to utilize the Ferrari identity by virtue of the agreement allowing for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport to be branded as being 'Powered by Ferrari', thereby giving the team, its sponsors and fans the opportunity to be affiliated directly with the famous Italian marque.

Tony Clements, Seatholder; "From a business point of view this agreement is a landmark deal and one that will enable us to market Britain's national team in The World Cup of Motorsport in association with arguably the most famous brand in motor racing. Ferrari's technology will take the A1GP series on to a new level, and add a level of interest and excitement to the series starting in season 4. This is certain to assist in the team's quest for commercial partners, who can now not only benefit from being associated with a winning, national team, but also the association with Ferrari."

Katie Clements, Team Principal; "We have been waiting to hear news about the season 4 technology partnership and I think it's true to say this news is ground breaking. As I understand it Ferrari has never designed and provided technologies to single seater race cars outside of Formula One, at least not in the modern era, so it is a credit to A1GP that the series has managed to attract this caliber of partner less than three years after we started. I think the interest in seeing Team Great Britain's new car in 2008 will be very high. In the meantime we have the current season to think about – it would be ideal to go into the first season of using Ferrari technology as the reigning title holders in The World Cup of Motorsport."

Robbie Kerr, Driver; "From a driver's point of view this news is terrific. The only way to drive a Ferrari single seater has, until now, been through Formula One – this agreement means that we will have the opportunity to race Ferrari technology in A1GP and that is something I would relish. As a driver you want to have the best technology available, and I am certain Ferrari will provide a very exciting product. I also think that having over twenty Ferrari-designed A1GP cars lining up on the grid for The World Cup of Motorsport is going to encourage other top drivers to the series, and really appeal to fans."
