Brno Preview: Team France

NEWS STORY
04/10/2006

A1 Team France is heading directly to Brno, Czech Republic, to prepare for the second round of the 2006/2007 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport and put behind them a disappointing Zandvoort weekend, where Nicolas Lapierre's third place in the Sprint Race was the only consolation. This is the first visit of the A1GP Teams on the 5.41km Automotodrom Brno, situated at 16 km from the centre of Brno and 215km from the capital Prague and famous to motorbike fans around the world. Loic Duval (right), driver of the FFSA French Team and Nicolas Lapierre will again be at the wheel of the A1 France car.

The circuit is very technical with a mixture of undulations, fast corners and long straights. Overtaking is facilitated thanks to numerous twists and turns. Moreover, changing weather conditions can be a frequent occurrence at Brno, making the racing there generally quite exciting.

Nicolas Lapierre commented: "I know the track from when I was racing in the F 3 Euroseries in 2004. This track is rather technical with a few fast corners and some long straights. The circuit track is quite wide making overtaking possible, which was not the case at the first round in Zandvoort. Rain, at that time of the year, could also come into play and make the weekend's racing exciting."

Jean-Paul Driot, team principal, A1 France added: "Following the events at the end of the Feature Race and the performance of the car at Zandvoort, we are eager to go to Brno to win and forget our misfortune. Loic Duval and Nicolas Lapierre have done an excellent job in the first round in the Netherlands and we are convinced that they will do the same in the Czech Republic."
