British GP: Preview - Super Aguri

06/06/2006

The 2006 British Grand Prix, round eight of the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship, will be the first of two 'home races' for the Super Aguri Team.

Located in the village of Leafield in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, the SAF1 Team's operational base is only a few miles from the historic Silverstone Circuit which has staged the race since the first British Grand Prix in 1950, alternating hosting duties with the Brands Hatch circuit between 1963 and 1986.

Takuma Sato: "The British Grand Prix always feels like my second home race as I used to live in the UK and I have great memories of driving at Silverstone from my Junior Formulae days. I very much like the circuit layout; the first part features high-speed, flowing corners which are really great to drive and the last section features the tough complex which is also challenging on the engineering side as it requires good mechanical grip. The weather always plays a key role at this race, so I am hoping for a dry, sunny weekend and a good result for the team."

Franck Montagny: "I am very much looking forward to the British Grand Prix because it is the home race for the team members who are based at our factory in Leafield. I think that it will be a good race, very different from the Grands Prix we have been to so far for sure. The weather will be a lot colder, but the atmosphere should be great. We collected a lot of data during the race in Monaco, much more than we had before, so I think that it will be cool and we will be able to make further progress at Silverstone this week."

Aguri Suzuki, Team Principal: "It was great to see Franck successfully finish our first race in Monaco last week. We are now back in the UK and making our final preparations for the British Grand Prix. Our goal remains the same – to have both Super Aguri Team cars finish the race. The team has been working extremely hard ahead of one of our home grands prix this week and we would very much like to do well at Silverstone."
