The 'invisible man' speaks out

NEWS STORY
25/04/2005

There have been times this season when it has been easy to forget that Ralf Schumacher is still racing.

Since the season got underway he has tested just once - Paul Ricard on April 13 - while it is teammate Jarno Trulli, reportedly earning around a third of the German's salary who has give the Japanese team its best results, two second places.

However, though we may not see much of the young Schumacher, we certainly hear from him.

Previously he hit out, for reasons known only to himself, at Ferrari's decision not to start the season with its new car, dismissing the decision as "arrogant".

Now he has lashed out at the team with which his brother has earned five titles, once again, blasting the Maranello outfit, this time for its cavalier approach to testing.

"What Ferrari are doing is unfair to everyone else," he told RTL television. "We restrict ourselves and Ferrari carry on testing happily. I don't understand this at all.

"We at Toyota and maybe the other eight teams could also test but we adhere to the rules," he added. "We're interested in Formula One carrying on for a long time, while Ferrari are not. That's not the right way."

The word in the paddock is that Toyota could be one of the first teams to break the current agreement, which sees nine teams limit their testing to just thirty days during the F1 season.
