Powerplants for Red Bull

NEWS STORY
10/03/2005

According to reports elsewhere, Red Bull is on the brink of agreeing a deal with Honda to use the Japanese manufacturer's powerplants in 2006.

Since purchasing the former Jaguar team, Dietrich Mateschitz has made no secret of his desire to see an engine other than a Cosworth in the back of his cars, with BMW seemingly favourites until Sauber entered the frame.

Both Red Bull and Honda remain tight-lipped, however the news comes just 48 hours after Bernie Ecclestone revealed that two more teams had agreed to stick with Formula One, alongside Ferrari.

If the two teams are Jordan and Red Bull, as is widely anticipated, then it isn't likely that the Japanese manufacturer would do a deal with the Austrian outfit.

Furthermore, based on previous information received by Pitpass, in addition to what we witnessed last weekend, Cosworth has lots more up its sleeve and shouldn't be discounted.
