Renault denies media speculation

NEWS STORY
13/09/2004

Following earlier reports, Renault has informed pitpass that there are no plans to change the line up of it team before the end of the season.

In the last twenty-four hours there has been growing speculation that Jarno Trulli is on the verge of being dropped, and possibly replaced by 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Following the Canadian's numerous 'secret tests' during the summer, it was reported that the French outfit was to run Villeneuve at Jerez this week, even though the team is actually in action at Silverstone.

"The rumours that are spreading are pure speculation," a Renault spokesperson told Pitpass, "and the team denies them absolutely.

"Testing this week will proceed as planned, with Franck Montagny and Fernando Alonso at Silverstone, testing performance developments for the final three races."
