Another unique record is broken

NEWS STORY

Depending on how you view your F1 history, another Formula One record was quietly broken at the weekend.

Michael Schumacher's Silverstone victory gave the Italian manufacturer its 177th victory as an engine manufacturer, surpassing the 176 victories achieved by Ford.

Although Ferrari has been in F1 since 1950, Ford's domination of the sport ran from the first running on the Cosworth (Zandvoort 1967) until the early 80s. The availability, and cost, of the Ford Cosworth engine was what gave many of today's teams their first break in F1.

The more pedantic among you, including our very own Mike Lawrence, will argue that in 1956, Ferrari ran Lancia D50s.
