The guilty party is still at Maranello claims Stepney

31/07/2007

Nigel Stepney claims that the Ferrari insider really responsible for the ongoing sabotage/espionage saga is still in place, working for the Italian team. And further to his claim that he knows where (Ferrari) bodies are buried, he insists that the Italian team knows more about what is going on than it is admitting to.

"I did not take any designs away from Ferrari," he told Italy's La Repubblica. "Someone passed on the designs but it wasn't me. Someone set me up and that person is still within Ferrari.

"I do not want to involve other colleagues," he added. "I know one part of the story, not all. Ferrari know the whole story."

Referring to claims that he was responsible for a mysterious white powder, allegedly placed in the fuel tanks of the team's cars before the Monaco Grand Prix, the Englishman said: "I didn't put it there. They put the powder in my pocket while I was taking a shower."

The Englishman also claims that a number of his colleagues at Ferrari were unhappy and dissatisfied at the way things were going, consequently, there was talk of forming a new team.

"It would have been led by Ross Brawn," says Stepney.
