Asked about his team's "new livery" for Barcelona, a McLaren-Honda spokesman's response leaves us little wiser.

Speaking earlier this year, Ron Dennis admitted that whilst there would be a change to the livery adorning the MP4-30 at some stage it would not be a radical overhaul. That, he said would only happen for "sound commercial reasons", namely the securing of a new title sponsors.

Contacted by Pitpass, a McLaren-Honda spokesman, gave us an insight as to what the "new livery", due to be unveiled this weekend, might involve.

"We have revised our car's livery, improving its visual impact, optimising it for not only bright sunshine but also for the floodlights increasingly used in twilight and night races," said the spokesman.

"The result is a dynamic, predatory, graphite-grey colouration, complemented by McLaren-dayglo 'Speedmarks' and keylines, reducing the reflection issues caused by our latest chrome-silver treatment."

"Orange would do it for me..... the test car a few years ago looked stunning. Mind you 50 shades of grey might be appropriate given that they are taking a bit of a beating at the moment. Like everyone, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for a first glimpzzzzzzzzz."

The most important point is a new sponsor - great news! Focus on that! It's showing a bright future for the team! "Yep, we're featuring a new livery, as we've secured a new sponsor and we want to give them a prime position in our cars. It's not a radical overhaul, but we're incorporating them in our design and excited their going to be racing with McLaren-Honda! We're really proud of this announcement and there's a whole load of others things we've got planned to do together as well! Watch this space!"

Who cares that the livery is better under twilight conditions....? Why are you spending words telling me about that?"

Predatory GREY, and speedo marks, sorry "Speedmarks".

Predatory "Living or characterized by preying on other animals" a bit like a pigeon grey then perhaps.

I think he is getting rather carried away, a bit like Honda's world graphics.

Anyway we wait and see how the Pigeon flys on Friday for the first time."

Why don't they do the popular thing, what the fans would love, and paint the damn things Orange again?? Red & White would do as second best.....chrome was always horrible, and all the black and red piping etc, etc, it is just naff."
