McLaren rubbishes Boullier report

NEWS STORY
25/01/2014

While a certain amount of speculation linking former Lotus team principal Eric Boullier with McLaren is to be expected, claims that the Frenchman will attend this week’s Jerez test are wide of the mark.

Contacted by Pitpass a McLaren spokesman rubbished the suggestion that Boullier will be at Jerez "with" his team.

"No, as is the case with a small but irritating number of so-called news stories on minor Formula 1 websites written by people who rarely check anything, that's utter nonsense," was the instant response when asked if there is any truth to the story.

So that's a non then.

"If this report is accurate, then McLaren has surrendered its claim to the high moral ground with Boullier's subsequent appointment at Woking.

McLaren fans must be concerned, considering his persistent denial of reality during the Quantum charade."

"The comment from the spokesman wasn't asbout the speculation linking Eric Boullier with McLaren but to a story that clearly said he WOULD be at Jerez WITH McLaren.

A big difference."

"Hang on a moment, Ron Dennis takes back control of Mclaren, Martin Whitmarsh effectively disappears and few days later Eric Boullier abruptly leaves Lotus. It's not totally unreasonable to speculate that there may be a connection, even if it turns out he does not join Mclaren.

As for the somewhat arrogant remark about minor F1 sites reporting so-called news stories, the appointment of Boullier is reported on the BBC website by Andrew Benson as virtually a done deal.

Or maybe this Mclaren spokesman considers the BBC a minor website?
