Talking to pitpass following today's meeting of the Formula One Commission, Minardi boss Paul Stoddart, had the following to say.

"The team owners met on Monday morning to see on what items they could come up with a majority position regarding the afternoon's agenda.

"There were a number of items on which they were successful," he continued. "The team owners then went into a very constructive meeting with their fellow Formula One Commissioners, and fundamentally, the following decisions were taken:

1. Upon reflection, to defer the introduction of any new qualifying format until such time as further research can be carried out with interested parties - in particular, the FIA, the television networks and indeed, the public - so as to be sure that the next change to the qualifying procedure is both a positive one and one that is perceived as acceptable by the viewing public.

2. To alter the starting procedure covered by the abandonment of cars. More details on this will follow.

3. The Technical Working Group will be asked by the FIA to review at, or shortly after, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone the speed of the top 10 competitors, and what, if anything, needs to be done in respect of those speeds."
