Pitpass - About Pitpass

Welcome to Pitpass, where you'll will find all you need to know about the world's most exciting sport, and lots, lots more.

At Pitpass 'passion' isn't simply a 'buzz word' it is a way of life, for everyone involved is passionate about motorsport and in particular Formula One.

Under another name the Pitpass team established itself as one of the finest, most respected, in the business. Now, without the hindrance of people who fail to understand the sport and its fans, we can truly try to give you the best Formula One site on the Internet.

Some of you will already be familiar with names like Mike Lawrence, Eoin Young, Geoff Collins, Michael Clark and Chris Balfe.

Although based in the UK, our team is spread across the globe. Indeed, Pitpass has journalists and feature writers on almost every continent so our coverage is 24/7 and not limited to traditional office hours.

The original site, launched ahead of the 2002 Formula One season, was built and run on a budget that wouldn't keep our rivals in paper clips, yet we persisted. Despite the obvious flaws with regards design and user-friendliness, the poor reliability and painfully slow loading, our readers not only remained loyal, they spread the word, and consequently our readership numbers grew.

Our 'mission statement' is simple, we aim to bring you the best news coverage, best feature writers, indeed the best of everything relating to Formula One.

If you have any comments or suggestions as to how we might improve the site, please let us know. That said if you feel we've got it right and that we're keeping our promise, we'd still like to hear from you.

This is Formula One so sometimes we may have to (grudgingly) say no to your requests, but you have our word that we will listen to you and try our hardest to give you what you want.

In early 2004, just days before the start of the new Formula One season, Pitpass was re-launched, the old, slow, cumbersome site consigned to history, in its place a new, user friendly, far more reliable version. Yet with the same first-class content.

The 'new look' site was an instant hit with race fans, and almost overnight readership numbers doubled, indeed month after month Pitpass is attracting more and more readers.

Unlike our rivals, Pitpass is not part of a magazine publishing group, sports internet group or TV broadcast company - it is fully independent. Which means that there are no hidden agendas and no need to kowtow to the powers that be.

It is because of its independent stance, that Pitpass' can genuinely claim that its monthly 190,000+ regular readership includes many members of the Formula One paddock, including drivers, team principals (current and retired), FIA President, Max Mosley and Bernie Ecclestone. They enjoy us not only for our top news coverage and features, but also because we remember that F1 is still meant to be fun.

According to the 'The Business of Formula One' an in-depth report published by SportBusiness, Pitpass is one of the Top Ten most popular Formula One websites, and the leading fully independent Formula One website.

'The Business of Formula One' reports:

"Offering a fresh look at the sport can also be a ratings winner. The seventh most popular F1 website is Pitpass.com which combines serious news with irreverent humour and often aim to represent and defend the views of fans in its editorials. It outperforms on the list the more anodyne and corporate team websites."

Up until now all Formula One fans have craved a Pitpass, now you have one, enjoy!
