Fernando Alonso denies that he played any part in David Coulthard's 'off' at the Nurburgring last week and admits to feeling "bad" when the Scotsman span off as he was enjoying the fight.

"I took the inside line to protect my position," said the Spaniard at today's press conference, "and after the corner I looked in the mirror and David was not there.

"I feel a little bit bad because it was a good fight for the position," he added, "and I didn't know what happened really. It was a normal part of the race weekend.

However he once again vigorously denied Coulthard's claim that he 'brake tested' the McLaren driver.

"I was happy to prove that I didn't brake early," said the Renault star. "The marshals and race director checked the data in Nurburgring, they checked the laps before and the laps after the incident and everything was clear.

"I braked at the same point and was happy to prove that," he added. "A lot of people talk about if I braked early, if it was not sporting and I was very happy to prove I was in a normal situation.

Has he spoken to Coulthard since?

"Not really," said Fernando. "We spoke after the accident before we went into the marshals room and it was not really anything important.
