Alonso: This is the best car I've ever had

21/02/2010

Having completed over 1650 miles of pre-season testing in the F10, Fernando Alonso has declared the Ferrari to be the best car he has ever driven.

"As of today, this is the best car I've ever had," the Spaniard told reporters on Saturday evening, having completed 137 laps of the Spanish track and posted the sixth best time.

"Red Bull, McLaren and Renault have been very quick and have shown their cards," he continued, "while we are still hiding ours. We will analyse the data, but we are very optimistic. As of today, if I were in a different team I would be looking at Ferrari because everything is going really well.

However, there was a note of caution from the two-time champion, who is clearly looking at the car's qualifying pace. "Maybe where Ferrari has to improve is the short runs with little fuel onboard," he said.

The Spaniard will be back in the car this week when the final pre-season test gets underway at Barcelona on Thursday.
