Brawn tips Schumacher for title

18/01/2010

Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn has tipped Michael Schumacher to win the 2010 Formula One World Championship title.

The Englishman, who was with Benetton and Ferrari for all seven of Schumacher's titles, is re-united with the German this year after the legendary driver opted to come out of retirement.

Speaking to Germany's Bild newspaper Brawn, who last year guided his own team to both titles, said that while he doesn't expect the German to be winning from the outset over the course of a full season he will prove to be the best.

"If I had to bet on any of them then it is clear that Michael will become world champion," he said. "Michael is now more relaxed. When he retired in 2006 F1 was a burden for him. Now I can sense his old enthusiasm.

"I do not think he will come out and win the first Grand Prix," he added. "He will need a few races to familiarise himself with the other cars and the many new drivers. Then I hope to see the old Schumacher. This has always been his strength: to learn and adapt amazingly quickly."
