A new twist in the Schumacher saga

18/12/2009

As the 'will he, won't he' speculation regarding Michael Schumacher's proposed move to Mercedes drags on and on and on, fuelled, not in the least, by a certain Nick Fry, the saga has suddenly taken a new twist.

German media is reporting that the German's long-time media manager Sabine Kehm has left Ferrari, a move confirmed by company spokesman Stefano Lai.

Furthermore, there are unsubstantiated claims that the seven-time champion's manager, Willi Weber, is due to meet with senior management at the Brackley-based team - for which read Ross Brawn and Norbert Haug - in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the real boss, i.e. the man who approves the money, Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler, which owns Mercedes, has said that no decision will be taken until next year though he admits an all-German line-up is "not a necessity".

"We are struggling to announce a second driver," he told Auto Motor und Sport. "Who the second driver is, we will probably not know until next year."
