Buemi continues with Toro Rosso
09/11/2009 Toro Rosso has confirmed that Sebastien Buemi has been retained for a second season.
The Faenza outfit, which is due to build its own car for the 2010 season, confirmed comments made by the Swiss driver to a TV programme on Sunday. Asked about his plans for 2010, following a successful rookie season in which he scored 6 points and qualified 6th in Brazil, Buemi told the Television Suisse Romande programme Sport Dimanche that he had been retained by Toro Rosso, though he had been in contact with a number of other teams including Toyota, which withdrew from the sport last week. "I had some contact with other teams because of my good results at the end of the season," he said. "Toyota could have been a possibility because they had not yet hired any drivers. That was not the only one, and anyway I was always talking with Red Bull. Finally I signed with Toro Rosso for 2010." The Faenza team this afternoon confirmed that Buemi will stay with them, however, they have yet to re-sign Jaime Alguersuari who joined the Italian team in the wake of Sebastien Bourdais' sacking after the German GP. |
