di Grassi and Perera penalised

28/08/2009

Lucas di Grassi and Franck Perera have been handed penalties after 'discussing' their sessions with the race stewards following this afternoon's qualifying session in Spa-Francorchamps.

Di Grassi will drop 3 grid positions after being judged to have impeded Karun Chandhok during the session: the Brazilian, who finished the session in second position, will now start the race in fifth place, promoting championship leader Nico Hulkenberg to the front row alongside pole-man Alvaro Parente.

Perera, who qualified outside 107% of the pole position time, will not participate in either race this weekend: the Frenchman was also 12 seconds off the top position in the rain affected free practice session, and as such was unable to point to that session for an indication of his speed at the circuit.
